Do you know which service to ask for?

You have phoned Rob's Auto Care as your car is due for a service.

Rob asks "would you like a logbook service or a general service?"

How do you know which service your vehicle needs? Rob will be happy to explain the differences, but if you want to be better prepared, read on.

Logbook Service

Most of us tend to keep our vehicle logbook in our glove box for safe keeping. This book is provided by the car manufacturer and includes the suggested services to be carried out at each interval for your vehicle. These services vary each interval, requiring different parts, fluids and time, hence will vary in price. With Rob's Auto Care your vehicle will receive a safety check, diagnostic report and battery health check at every logbook service. Rob is happy to send a quote for a logbook service before you give him the 'go ahead.'

The service intervals are indicated at the top of each page of the logbook. These intervals are measured in kilometres as found on your odometer, or a period of time, whichever comes first. The service interval may be inconsistent if your vehicle has missed services and the logbook has not been stamped. However, Rob can discuss this with you to ensure your vehicle receives the correct servicing.

If you have purchased a new car, the dealership may ask you to return to them for logbook servicing in order to protect your new car warranty. This is entirely your decision, so don't feel pressured to have your servicing done by the dealership. This is not mandatory.

A logbook service completed by Rob's Auto Care will NOT affect

your new car warranty.

Rob has worked for a number of dealerships during his career and knows what is required to protect a new car warranty. If you would like to discuss this further, don't hesitate to give Rob a call.

General Service

Those who just want a very basic oil and oil filter change, fluid level top-up, safety check, diagnostic report and battery health check would ask Rob to complete a general service. A general service should be completed at 6 month intervals. Do keep in mind that other parts of your vehicle can deteriorate over time, which are not replaced during a general service by Rob's Auto Care. Rob will note any items for attention and provide a quote for repairs for your perusal.
